Representation
Representation
The genre of my magazine is indie rock; therefore the audience of my magazine is going to be young people that have a liking or interest in indie rock music. The audience of my music magazine will be 14-25 year old that are interested in indie rock music.
I will represent the genre and target audience using various aspects throughout my magazine. After researching similar types of magazines I noticed that the colour scheme represented the genre and target market of the magazine. I found that rock/metal magazines used bold colours such as red, blue and black. Genre is indie rock so I decided to go for muted colours. The colours that I chose represent my genre well.
I have also represented the genre and target market with the language and register within the magazine. I researched different genres of magazines and found that different genres have suitable language for the target market. For example, in ‘Vogue’ the language was formal whereas in ‘NME’ the language was informal with slang aspects. For my magazine I will represent my genre through the language and register by using informal and slang language.
The bands and musicians that are in my magazine also represent the genre and audience for my magazine. Bands and musicians that are also indie rock genres will be presented in my magazine. This will show the audience what kind of magazine it is and will make the magazine suitable for the target market.
