Language and Register

Language and register- Language and register is used when creating a media product to ensure it’s suitable for the genre and target market. The language used within a magazine is important as it sets the genre and the target market. For example, Vogue is aimed at high class women who are interested in fashion therefore the language and register will be formal and informative, a good level of English will be used and no slang. However, NME is aimed at middle class and the genre is rock music. Therefore the language and register will be informal with swearing and slang words used. My magazine is similar to NME so the language and register used will be informal/slang.
